The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) launched a research methodology textbook specifically designed for postgraduate and PhD scholars of Ayurveda on Friday. This announcement was made during the fifth Executive Committee meeting of the Council, which was presided over by Union Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha. In conjunction with the textbook launch, the council also invited applications for CCRAS PRAYATNA 2026-27, an initiative focused on promoting scientific writing among emerging researchers.

Textbook Designed to Align with NCISM Curriculum

The newly developed research methodology textbook is part of the Ayurved Prabodhini Granthamala series and has been authored by a team of fifty research scientists and faculty members. The Ministry of Ayush stated that the book is crafted in accordance with the outcome-based dynamic curriculum endorsed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). It aims to foster research methodology, scientific reasoning, and evidence-based research capabilities among MD, MS, and PhD scholars in Ayurveda.

In addition to the textbook, CCRAS introduced the Expression of Interest (EoI) for the PRAYATNA programme for the academic year 2026-27. This flagship initiative seeks to facilitate the enhancement of scientific writing and publication skills through structured workshops based in educational institutions. The official promotional materials for the programme were also revealed during the meeting.

The initiative is anticipated to significantly broaden the skillset of postgraduate and doctoral scholars, thereby enriching the field of Ayurveda by amplifying the quality of scientific literature produced.

Introduction of CCRAS Digital Ecosystem Dashboard

The CCRAS Digital Ecosystem Dashboard was also launched during the meeting, providing an integrated platform to improve accessibility to the council’s online resources. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and facilitate the wider dissemination of research findings and institutional data. Such a digital transformation is expected to play a pivotal role in the evolution of Ayurveda research.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha commended the CCRAS for its growing stature as a critical institution in evidence-based Ayurvedic research. He highlighted the Council’s contributions towards research, educational advancements, and public health outreach. Furthermore, he acknowledged the Council’s achievements, which include obtaining 21 NABH and NABL accreditations across its various institutes, as well as the establishment of the Ayush Diksha platform and the conduct of international collaborative research projects.

In addition, the Council’s notable large-scale study on anaemia among adolescent girls reflects its commitment to significant public health issues, reinforcing its role in promoting Ayurveda through rigorous research practicums.

Commitment to Advancing Evidence-Based Ayurveda

Professor (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to creating a globally recognised ecosystem for evidence-based Ayurveda research. He stated that the Council’s progress in scientific research, institutional excellence, digital innovations, and international collaborations demonstrates a steadfast commitment to enhancing Ayurveda through quality and validation.

As advancements continue, such initiatives are expected to contribute positively to the development and validation of Ayurvedic practices and methodologies, setting a solid foundation for future research and educational pursuits within the field.

The launch of the research methodology textbook and the accompanying initiatives mark significant steps in strengthening the framework of Ayurveda education and research, cultivating a new generation of scholars equipped with essential skills for impactful contributions.
