If people refuse to cast their vote during elections, democracy would become meaningless. This should give you an idea of the importance of National Voters Day 2020, which is being observed on Saturday.

What is National Voters Day?

The foundation day of the Election Commission, January 25, 1950, was declared as National Voters Day. It is celebrated on January 25 every year with the intention to make people aware of their voting rights and to attract more voters. This special day is observed at the Polling Station Level, Assembly Level, Constituency Level, District Level, State Level, and National Level. To promote the electoral process among newly eligible young voters, the theme this year is ‘Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy’.
