At least three individuals lost their lives in Mon district, Nagaland, following a series of flash floods and landslides that occurred on Sunday due to intense rainfall. Johnny Ruangmei, the joint CEO of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, stated that the ongoing rainfall, which began early on Sunday, led to extensive waterlogging in low-lying regions. He noted the severity of landslides along hill slopes, which have obstructed crucial roadways and disrupted traffic flow.

In light of the situation, families affected by the disaster have been relocated to safer locations, and relief operations are underway. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed profound sorrow over the fatalities and the destruction caused, extending condolences to the families affected. He conveyed that the state government is closely monitoring the ongoing situation.

In a social media post, Rio mentioned that various entities, including the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, local district administration, State Disaster Response Force, police, and Assam Rifles, are all actively engaged in search and rescue operations. Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton also voiced his grief, affirming that all relevant authorities are collaborating to facilitate search, rescue, and relief activities.
