MWC26 Shanghai is set to feature a live showcase of Formula E during its upcoming event. This showcase focuses on electric racing while highlighting the significance of real-time connectivity in motorsport. Scheduled to take place from June 24 to June 26, 2026, the event will occur at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai, China.

The venue will host key speakers involved in Formula E, who will engage audiences in SNIEC’s Hall N4 as part of the Auto Smart Mobility Zone. This area is part of the Circuit X initiative, which is led by GSMA Foundry and aims to accelerate the adoption of mobile technologies within motorsport, enhancing the experience for attendees and fans alike.

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience one of ten Formula E simulators, with incentives such as winning tickets to a Formula E race or obtaining signed merchandise from drivers. Attendees can also view a Formula E vehicle up close on the eve of the 2026 Shanghai E-Prix.

Technology and Innovation on Display

The showcased Formula E Gen3 Evo car will be equipped with a 5G modem and antenna, allowing for live streaming of onboard camera footage. This feature aims to exhibit the effectiveness of 5G connectivity in a professional racing environment. Additionally, attendees will be able to watch exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the 2026 Sanya E-Prix, scheduled just prior to the MWC26 in Shanghai.

Sihan Bo Chen, Head of Greater China at GSMA, emphasised the importance of this showcase, stating that it exemplifies how connectivity can enhance high-performance environments where precision and reliability are crucial. Various global technology leaders will also participate in keynote speeches and panel discussions throughout the event, adding to the depth of topics covered.

Notable speakers include Alexander Antukh, CISO at AboitizPower, and Zhihui Peng, Co-founder and CTO of AGIBOT, amongst others. Attendees can expect expert insights from leaders in diverse fields related to technology, manufacturing, and communications.
