RJD MP Manoj Jha has openly condemned the central government led by the BJP, following a violent incident that occurred during a march towards Parliament on July 20, 2026. Jha stated that the demonstrators were seeking an opportunity for dialogue with the government, arguing that the recent clashes should not have happened over such a demand. Speaking to ANI outside Parliament on the first day of the Monsoon Session, Jha remarked on the rarity of such violent events and questioned the government’s response to peaceful requests.

He expressed concern over what he described as governmental arrogance, suggesting that the administration is undermining political parties nationwide while justifying these actions as part of ‘Chanakya Niti’ or Chanakya’s strategy. Jha’s statements highlight growing tensions between the ruling party and opposition voices regarding the handling of public protests.

Details of the Violence During the Protest

On July 20, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) escalated its protests over an alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper, resulting in significant violence. Reports indicate that over 118 police personnel sustained injuries in the clashes that occurred as protesters attempted to march towards Parliament. According to Delhi Police, demonstrators displayed aggressive and unruly behaviour, ignoring repeated warnings and engaging in violent confrontations with officers.

Protesters allegedly threw stones and other projectiles at law enforcement and attempted to breach barricades. This violence not only endangered public order but also posed risks to the safety of police personnel fulfilling their official duties. A number of senior officers, including those with the rank of Special Commissioner and Joint Commissioner, were among the injured, along with several women officers. Police have also reported that approximately 60 protesters were injured during the violent exchanges.

During the turmoil, the Union Health Minister JP Nadda reached out to the demonstrators, urging them to cease their sit-in. Minister Nadda noted that for the first time, protesters expressed a willingness to engage in discussions with the government. This proposal was seen as a potential stepping stone towards resolving the underlying issues that prompted the protests.

Demands from CJP Leaders and Ongoing Protests

Saurav Das, chief spokesperson for the Cockroach Janata Party, articulated their primary demands during discussions with Minister Nadda. The CJP is pushing for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and is seeking compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of NEET applicants who have tragically lost their lives, with reports suggesting over 20 fatalities linked to the exam’s controversy.

Additionally, the party is advocating for the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been hospitalised following a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. Wangchuk’s demands focus on the resignation of Union Education Minister Pradhan, which they believe is critical for accountability regarding the alleged exam paper leak.

Despite government appeals for an end to protests, CJP officials have stated their intentions to continue demonstrating until their demands are met. The ongoing unrest reflects heightened emotions surrounding educational integrity and governmental accountability, with attention firmly placed on how these matters will evolve in the days ahead.
