A police constable was reportedly shot dead by his friend after being invited to a party at his home in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, during the early hours of Monday. The victim, identified as Rakesh Kumar Patel, was called to the residence of Rakesh Mishra, where he was later shot in the head shortly after arriving on Sunday night.

Authorities reported that Mishra’s brother took Patel to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The accused fled the scene immediately following the incident, and efforts are underway to locate him. Both men had known each other prior to the occurrence.

Patel, who was assigned to a police station in Maihar district, had recently been transferred from the Rewa Police Line. The transition had reportedly taken place a few weeks before the unfortunate incident.
