Iran Erects “Blood for Blood” Billboard Depicting Trump and Family Above Coffins

The CSR Journal Magazine

A new billboard has been launched in central Tehran, prominently displaying images of US President Donald Trump and his family positioned above coffins draped in the American flag. This initiative represents one of the most direct state-backed criticisms aimed at the US leader amidst rising tensions between Iran and the United States. The mural is situated in Palestine Square, with the White House served as a backdrop, and features the slogan “Blood for Blood,” indicating a call for vengeance against Trump’s family for recent attacks that resulted in the deaths of senior Iranian officials and their families.

The billboard includes portraits of Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and his five children: Ivanka, Donald Jr, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron Trump. The artwork appears to be a direct response to the impact of the war on the family of Ali Khamenei, the former supreme leader of Iran, who was reportedly killed on 28 February 2026 in US-Israeli strikes. These strikes also claimed the lives of his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and infant granddaughter. Khamenei’s images are often displayed throughout Iran, especially during national moments of mourning, including his funeral earlier this month.

This billboard is part of a series of increasingly provocative displays that have emerged across Tehran in recent weeks. For instance, another mural in Enghelab Square represents Trump lying in an open black coffin, his eyes closed and hair tousled, beneath the words “We kill Trump” written in both Persian and English. Other public artworks throughout the city depict Trump with his face depicted in the crosshairs of a rifle, bringing attention to escalating hostility.

Murals Targeting US Officials Emerge Across Tehran

The Palestine Square mural, located on the side of a governmental building, has frequently been used as a platform for state messages and threats directed towards the United States and Israel. The artworks presented in this area are updated regularly, reflecting the current political landscape. Supporters of the Iranian government often convene at this site at night, brandishing flags representative of Palestine and Hezbollah.

Significantly, Tehran is home to large murals located in Valiasr Square, created by the Owj Arts and Media Organisation, an entity linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. These murals actively oppose diplomatic engagements with the United States and advocate for the Islamic Republic’s nuclear and missile policies alongside its broader regional strategies.

In previous remarks, Trump had stated that any Iranian efforts to orchestrate an assassination against him would lead to a “severe and destructive” retaliation from the United States. In light of the recent killing of Khamenei, Iranian officials and state-affiliated media have increasingly invoked the theme of “revenge.” Moreover, a written promise from Khamenei’s son and successor, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, suggested that those held responsible would not “die peacefully in their beds,” hinting at projected repercussions.

Heightened Tensions Following Recent Hostilities

The unveiling of this provocative billboard comes in the context of heightened diplomatic tensions between Iran and the US, which have remained tense over issues of military conflict and sanctions. The Iranian leadership’s emphasis on vengeance not only reflects an ongoing hostility but also highlights the complex political dynamics that shape regional relations.

These aggressive public displays have prompted a range of reactions domestically and internationally, illustrating a narrative where the Iranian government seeks to assert its stance against perceived threats from the United States. The continuous cycle of displays and messages serves as a reminder of the delicate and volatile nature of Iran-US relations.

As the situation develops, the implications of these public displays and statements are likely to influence ongoing discussions regarding diplomacy and conflict resolution in the region. In an era marked by geopolitical tensions, such demonstrations underscore the significant impact of state-sponsored narratives on international perceptions and diplomacy.
