“They Got 95 Instead of 522”: Beed Students’ NEET-UG Scores Plunge, Parents Seek Court Intervention

The CSR Journal Magazine

The NEET-UG 2026 results have sparked significant discontent in Beed district, Maharashtra, due to allegations of substantial discrepancies between students’ anticipated scores and those recorded on their official scorecards. Families of the affected students are reportedly contemplating legal action against the National Testing Agency (NTA).

These allegations emerged after the results of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination were declared on July 16. The re-test was conducted on June 21, following the cancellation of the original exam, which took place on May 3, amid claims of a paper leak. Numerous students from Beed have reported that their final scores markedly diverge from the results they expected based on the official NTA answer key.

One student, Soham Gavte, reportedly anticipated a score of 522 marks based on the answer key provided by the NTA. However, his scorecard indicated merely 95 marks. His father, Nitin Gavte, expressed profound concern over the situation, stating, “My son studied diligently. If the error is not rectified, we will seek legal recourse.”

Allegations of Mismanaged OMR Sheets

In another incident, Dnyaneshwari Pawar from Wadwani alleged that the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet linked to her credentials on the NTA’s portal is not the one she completed during the examination. Her family maintains that she calculated an expected score of 702 out of 720, positioning her amongst the top rankers nationally.

Despite this expectation, her official scorecard reported only 87 marks. Anilkumar Pawar, her father, asserted that the family retains the original question paper, which they believe substantiates their claim that the OMR sheet submitted does not belong to Dnyaneshwari. “She has been unfairly treated,” he expressed.

Concerns regarding the impacts of these discrepancies have prompted parents to demand urgent action. They seek a comprehensive investigation from the NTA into the evaluation process, urging the agency to verify the results and issue amended scorecards wherever necessary. The frustrations among the families underscore the perceived risks to their children’s opportunities for admission into medical colleges.

Call for Investigation Into Evaluation Process

Families affected by the discrepancies are insisting on a thorough examination of the protocols employed during the evaluation process. Many parents have stated that the shocking outcomes of the results could severely hinder their children’s educational aspirations.

The NTA has yet to release an official statement addressing the growing discontent regarding the results. The lack of communication has further intensified frustration among students and their families, as they seek clarity and resolutions to a situation they believe is unjust.

As the situation develops, the families remain resolute in their demands for transparency and accountability from the NTA. They are hopeful that the agency will act swiftly to rectify the alleged errors, ensuring that deserving candidates are not adversely affected in their pursuit of medical education.
