LSG vs RR, IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals Beat Lucknow Super Giants by 40 Runs

The CSR Journal Magazine

Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League 2026. Rajasthan Royals posted 159/6 in 20 overs and then bowled Lucknow Super Giants out for 119 in 18 overs to secure a comprehensive victory.

Royals Recover to Post Fighting Total

Batting first after being put in, Rajasthan Royals endured an early wobble as their top order struggled to build momentum. Regular wickets in the powerplay prevented them from accelerating, leaving the innings in a precarious position.

The recovery came through a composed middle-order effort led by Ravindra Jadeja, who anchored the innings with a crucial 43 off 29 balls. His knock stabilised the innings and ensured Rajasthan crossed the 150-mark, which appeared competitive on a surface offering assistance to bowlers. Late contributions from the lower order helped Rajasthan add valuable runs in the death overs, turning a modest total into a defendable one.

Lucknow’s bowlers maintained discipline throughout, with their pacers striking at key moments. However, their inability to completely dismantle the middle order allowed Rajasthan to recover and post a respectable total.

LSG Collapse Under Pressure Despite Marsh Resistance

In response, Lucknow Super Giants never quite found rhythm in the chase. Early wickets dented their progress, putting immediate pressure on the middle order. The top order failed to convert starts, and the required rate steadily climbed.

Mitchell Marsh emerged as the lone bright spot for Lucknow, scoring a fighting 55 off 41 balls. He attempted to anchor the innings and revive the chase, but lacked support from the other end.

Rajasthan’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance, led by Jofra Archer, who picked up three crucial wickets. Their disciplined lines and consistent breakthroughs ensured Lucknow never built a meaningful partnership. The innings folded in the 18th over, sealing a dominant win for Rajasthan.

All-Round Display Powers Rajasthan Forward

Rajasthan Royals’ victory was built on a collective effort, with both bat and ball contributing at key stages. Their ability to recover from early setbacks and defend a moderate total highlighted their balance and execution under pressure.

Jofra Archer was named Player of the Match for his decisive spell that dismantled Lucknow’s batting line-up. The win strengthens Rajasthan’s position in the standings, while Lucknow will need to address their batting inconsistencies.

The next IPL 2026 fixture will see Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan Royals are scheduled to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next outing, while Lucknow Super Giants will look to bounce back when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders.
