Prime Minister Modi Praises Athletes’ Achievements

In a related event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted Indian athletes for their remarkable performances during the 134th episode of his radio program, ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ He celebrated the achievements of five athletes, including Gurindervir Singh, Vishal TK, Tejaswin Shankar, Dev Meena, and Kuldeep Kumar, who set new national records at the National Senior Athletics Federation Competition held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Gurindervir Singh Breaks Historical Records

During the broadcast, PM Modi specifically recognized Gurindervir Singh, a 25-year-old officer with the Indian Navy, for his record-setting run of 10.09 seconds in the men’s 100m final. This achievement marked him as the fastest Indian sprinter and the first to break the 10.10-second barrier, surpassing Milkha Singh’s long-held record and securing his place in both the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

Healthy Rivalry Among Athletes

Prime Minister Modi also acknowledged Animesh Kujur, who had previously set a brief record in the men’s 100m just minutes after Gurindervir’s achievement during the semi-finals. Kujur’s timing during the event ensured his qualification for the Commonwealth Games 2026. The Prime Minister encouraged both athletes on their journeys, emphasizing the importance of friendship, training, and healthy competition on the track.

Encouragement for Future Performances

During their interaction, PM Modi praised their competitive spirit and expressed confidence in their potential to further elevate the nation’s reputation through their achievements in athletics. He remarked on the significance of their efforts in fostering national pride and highlighted their dedication to excelling while supporting each other in their athletic pursuits. The Prime Minister’s message concluded with heartfelt congratulations and encouragement for continued hard work and success in future competitions.
