iPhone 18 Pro And 18 Pro Max Set To Launch Soon: Check Out Features and Key Upgrades

The CSR Journal Magazine

The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to feature significant design modifications, particularly regarding its display. Reports indicate that Apple is working towards integrating Face ID sensors beneath the screen, which could lead to the elimination of the prominent pill-shaped Dynamic Island seen on previous models.

If these changes materialise, the front of the device may instead showcase a punch-hole cutout positioned at the top-left corner for the selfie camera. This alteration is anticipated to offer users a more streamlined and engaging viewing experience, even while maintaining a familiar body design similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series.

On the rear, Apple is likely to retain its established triple-camera setup but may refine the glass and frame finish for improved aesthetics. New colour options, including deep purple, burgundy, or coffee brown, are reportedly under consideration.

Camera Enhancements and Technology

This year, Apple is expected to prioritise camera improvements in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. Leaks suggest the introduction of a mechanical iris system on at least one of the rear cameras, allowing for variable aperture control. This advancement could greatly enhance low-light photography, lead to superior portrait images, and create more natural background blurring.

Furthermore, reports indicate that Apple may incorporate a new three-layer stacked image sensor, potentially sourced from Samsung. This new configuration is designed to improve capture speed, minimise noise, and enhance dynamic range in photos and videos. Additionally, larger apertures for the main and telephoto lenses are anticipated to elevate overall photography performance.

Underpinning these advances is the expected debut of the A20 Pro chip, manufactured on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. The new design may integrate RAM closely with the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine, improving efficiency and performance by approximately 15 per cent while enhancing power efficiency by up to 30 per cent.

Battery and Display Specifications

Battery life is projected to be a focal point of discussion, especially concerning the Pro Max model, as reports suggest it may become slightly thicker to accommodate a larger battery. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a 5,100mAh battery, potentially making it one of the largest ever utilised in an iPhone. However, this increase in size could also result in a weight exceeding 240 grams, possibly marking it as the heaviest iPhone released to date.

Despite these modifications, screen dimensions are expected to remain consistent with prior models. The iPhone 18 Pro is likely to continue with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max will reportedly maintain its 6.9-inch screen size. As the anticipation builds, questions persist regarding the future of the Dynamic Island—whether it will be removed entirely or merely reduced further.

The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models is predicted to follow Apple’s traditional release pattern, with a public unveiling anticipated in September 2026. In contrast, indications suggest that the standard iPhone 18 model may be available at a later date, potentially in 2027, although official confirmation from Apple is still awaited.

Pricing Expectations in India

At this juncture, speculation regarding pricing for the iPhone 18 series in India remains inconclusive. Apple had previously raised prices for the iPhone 17 lineup, which may indicate a stable pricing structure for the next generation. Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max begins at Rs 1,49,900.

If Apple opts to maintain its pricing strategy, the iPhone 18 Pro could launch within a similar price range. However, final pricing may be influenced by external factors such as component shortages, rising manufacturing costs, or competitive pressures from rival brands like Samsung. The upcoming months will likely offer further insight into these developments.
