Ghaziabad Fire: Ten Fire Tenders Rushed to Market Near Gaur Chowk

The CSR Journal Magazine

A substantial fire erupted in a market adjacent to Gaur Chowk in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on April 21 at approximately 11:12 am. Chief Fire Officer Rahul Kumar reported that the flames engulfed multiple shops, leading to an explosion of a gas cylinder in the vicinity. Upon receiving the distress call, five fire tenders were initially dispatched from Kotwali Ghantaghar, while additional units were summoned from Noida, Vaishali, and Sahibabad.

In total, around ten fire tenders were deployed to manage the situation effectively. As the fire raged, authorities were particularly concerned due to the proximity of a petrol station and other establishments, treating the scenario as urgent. The Chief Fire Officer from Noida was also requested to assist in the operations.

Two Teams Established for Effective Fire Control

According to CFO Rahul Kumar, the fire not only spread through the market but also reached the second floor of a nearby residential society. In response, authorities formed two separate teams: one focused on extinguishing the fire within the market while the other concentrated on controlling the blaze at the residential building. Both teams worked rigorously to mitigate the damage.

The flames were reportedly brought under control after about one and a half hours of firefighting efforts. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the cause of the fire. Several businesses, including those selling cold beverages, chips, vegetables, and a gym, suffered due to the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officials stated that the fire at the residential society is considered unrelated to the market blaze, with separate investigations ongoing for each site to determine their respective causes.

Additional Fire Incidents Reported in the Region

In a separate occurrence, another fire broke out near a roundabout in Noida Extension. As the flames grew stronger, they spread to Ajnara Society, affecting a flat on the 18th floor of the building. Fire brigade personnel are actively engaged in dousing the flames both in the residential area and the adjacent market.

Furthermore, a significant fire erupted at a car repair shop situated near Eidgah Tiraha in Etawah’s Civil Lines police station area on the same day. This incident led to a prompt response from both police and fire services. The mechanic shop, located directly in front of the Eidgah, contained several old and unwanted vehicles, along with cars under repair. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in this case as well.

Fire department personnel were quickly dispatched to both incident locations upon receiving reports of the fires. Local authorities remain vigilant in addressing these situations, ensuring public safety is the top priority during such emergencies.
