The CSR Journal Magazine

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla marked the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026 by organising a unique yoga session on a tug vessel. This event emphasised the values of strength, balance, and resilience, aligning with the essence of yoga. The session saw participation from DPA officials as well as members of the Women Employees Group, who came together to reflect on the spirit of this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Record Performance in Cargo Handling

On June 18, the Deendayal Port Authority achieved significant operational milestones, reinforcing its reputation as a key player in India’s maritime landscape. The port set new records by handling an astounding 7,75,251 tonnes of cargo in a single day. This achievement illustrates DPA’s commitment to operational excellence and efficiency.

During the same period, DPA displayed remarkable prowess by conducting five simultaneous Ship-to-Ship (STS) transhipment operations within 24 hours. This activity not only demonstrates the port’s capabilities but also reflects its dedication to enhancing maritime operations.

In addition to these accomplishments, the port’s Vadinar facility reported the management of a record 4,85,095 tonnes of crude oil, showcasing DPA’s robust handling capacity. The statistics underscore the authority’s intention to set new benchmarks in the maritime sector.

Significant Growth in LPG Operations

Earlier this month, DPA Kandla reported the handling of 133 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) vessels, managing 2.61 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of LPG cargo. This achievement represents a significant Year-on-Year growth of 25 per cent in LPG cargo handling for the fiscal year 2025-26. Such growth signals the increasing importance of the port in facilitating energy logistics within the region.

In a statement shared on an X post, Deendayal Port Authority credited its progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post pointed out that DPA Kandla continues to fortify India’s maritime and energy logistics framework while simultaneously enhancing operational and customer service aspects.

The impact of DPA’s initiatives not only positions the port as a vital component of India’s maritime operations but also contributes to the country’s overall energy security. Efforts at the port align with the national agenda aimed at enhancing efficiency and productivity in the logistics sector.
