Individual thunderstorms are anticipated to last between thirty minutes to two hours, delivering rainfall accumulations ranging from 20 mm to 75 mm in different areas. Specific localities experiencing over 50 mm of rain may face significant waterlogging, especially in low-lying sectors and areas with inadequate drainage systems.

Monsoon Conditions in Western Uttar Pradesh

While Delhi is bracing for substantial rainfall, western Uttar Pradesh has been placed on high alert due to forecasts of even heavier thunderstorms. Meteorologists predict that this region might experience more intense rain than the national capital, with several districts likely to face severe weather conditions over the course of the day.

As the monsoon trough advances northward over Delhi-NCR, it enhances moisture accumulation and facilitates the rapid formation of thunderclouds capable of generating heavy rain, lightning strikes, and gusty winds. The current weather pattern is contributing to the anticipation of heavy downpours in various parts of western Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, nearby regions including Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall today; however, the extent of rainfall coverage in these areas is predicted to be less than that over Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.
