The CSR Journal Magazine

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi government will facilitate continuous sanitation, medical care, electricity, water, and other essential services at all camps established for Kanwar Yatra pilgrims. During a review meeting focused on the preparations, she instructed various departments to ensure that the religious event occurs smoothly, safely, and in an organised manner. The Kanwar Yatra is expected to commence on July 30.

Gupta stated that the government will also install multiple welcome gates for the devotees, with plans to greet them through flower showers as they arrive. In addition, arrangements regarding traffic management, security, and other civic services will be effectively coordinated along the pilgrimage routes.

Highlighting the significance of the yatra, she mentioned that it represents social harmony and cultural heritage. The event attracts a large number of devotees of Lord Shiva who chant phrases such as “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bol Bam” as they traverse the streets of Delhi, creating an atmosphere filled with faith and dedication.

Coordination and Support for Kanwar Committees

According to a statement from the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office, a single-window facility has been established to streamline permissions and other services required by Kanwar committees. This initiative aims to simplify the process for committees, enabling them to receive timely assistance without approaching multiple departments.

During the meeting, Gupta urged officials to maintain close coordination with the Kanwar committees, extending support tailored to their specific needs. This proactive approach is intended to facilitate smooth operations throughout the event period.

The health department will play a crucial role by ensuring sufficient medical resources at all camps, with healthcare professionals assigned in shifts to cater to the needs of the pilgrims. Gupta stressed the importance of being prepared and responsive to any medical emergencies that may arise during the yatra.

Traffic Management and Safety Precautions

The review also included detailed discussions on traffic management and security measures along the routes taken by the Kanwar Yatra. Gupta directed officials to complete preparations related to barricading, route diversions, deployment of Public Call Officers (PCR), and strategies to prevent accidents well in advance of the event.

The Kanwar Yatra typically involves devotees travelling to Haridwar to collect sacred water from the Ganges, which is then offered at various Lord Shiva temples. The Delhi government has expressed its commitment to supporting pilgrims throughout their journey within the city limits.

With the pilgrimage attracting numerous participants, the arrangements by the Delhi government aim to foster a sense of respect and care for the devotees. Officials are tasked with ensuring that the yatra unfolds with the utmost regard for safety and devotion, effectively managing the challenges that may arise during the event.

The upcoming Kanwar Yatra is anticipated to attract a multitude of participants, and the preparations being implemented by the government signify an effort to honour and support the traditions associated with this significant religious occasion.
