Delhi Government Enforces Strict Regulations on Illegal Animal Sacrifice Before Bakri Eid

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Government has announced stringent measures to regulate animal sacrifice as the festival of Bakri Eid approaches on May 27, contingent on moon sighting. In a bid to maintain public order and hygiene, the authorities have laid down specific guidelines aimed at curbing illegal activities related to animal sacrifice.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra highlighted the seriousness of these regulations, stating that the administration would pursue strict legal action against individuals who breach the outlined rules concerning animal sacrifice and waste management. He emphasised that it is entirely illegal to sacrifice cattle, cows, calves, camels, and other prohibited animals within the national capital.

Mishra clarified that any person engaging in or attempting these acts would face criminal charges. He reiterated the government’s stance, focusing on compliance and the necessity for responsible behaviour during the festival.

Prohibition of Public Sacrifices and Illegal Trade

As part of the guidelines, the Delhi Government has expressly forbidden animal sacrifices in public areas. The minister stated that such practices are strictly outlawed and warned that violators would be subject to legal ramifications. This includes not just the act of sacrifice itself, but also any illegal trading of animals, which is prohibited in roads and residential zones.

Mishra specifically mentioned that markets for buying and selling animals should not be established unlawfully on streets or within local communities. The government aims to enforce these regulations to ensure a peaceful and respectful atmosphere during Bakri Eid.

In addition to prohibiting public sacrifices, the government is concentrating on the consequences of improper disposal related to animal waste. Mishra indicated that any disposal of blood or waste into drains, sewers, or public areas post-sacrifice would also be met with significant legal action.

Reporting Violations and Ensuring Compliance

Citizens are being encouraged to report any infractions related to these guidelines directly to the police or the Development Department. Minister Kapil Mishra reinforced the importance of community involvement in this initiative, asking individuals to stay vigilant and report any violations to help maintain public health and order.

The approach taken by the Delhi Government underscores the seriousness with which it views the upcoming festival and the associated challenges. By putting these regulations in place, the government aims to mitigate potential issues that could arise during the celebrations.

Overall, the directive encompasses a range of measures designed to uphold legal standards during Bakri Eid. The Delhi Government is determined to ensure that the festival is celebrated in a manner that respects both legal statutes and public wellbeing.
