Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), revealed on July 25 that he has been diagnosed with typhoid. Despite this health setback, he pledged that the nationwide protests demanding the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will persist without interruption. In a video message shared on X, Dipke stated, “Have been diagnosed with typhoid, but the fight will go on until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.”

Following extensive demonstrations throughout the country, Dipke expressed gratitude to those participating in the protests. He acknowledged the peaceful nature of these gatherings and commended attendees for making the movement notable. “I really want to thank all the cockroaches protesting peacefully nationwide, and congratulations to all for making this movement a success,” Dipke noted in his message.

Continued Agitation and Accountability Demands

On July 24, after social activist Sonam Wangchuk concluded his 26-day hunger strike, Dipke reinforced the party’s commitment to ongoing agitation until Dharmendra Pradhan is held accountable and steps down from his position. He noted Wangchuk’s improved health while emphasising that the central demand for accountability regarding examination irregularities remains paramount.

Dipke stated, “Our protest will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. We are very happy and relieved that Sonam sir has ended his hunger strike, as it had been over 26 days. His life is extremely precious to this country.” He reiterated the importance of the protests and affirmed the necessity of Pradhan’s resignation as the only acceptable outcome.

In addressing the government’s stance, Dipke insisted that any negotiations must occur in a neutral setting. “Any meeting must take place at a neutral location or venue. Nothing less than the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan will be accepted,” he affirmed.

Wangchuk’s Hunger Strike Conclusion and Accountability Assurance

On the same day, Wangchuk responded to critics regarding his decision to end his hunger strike. He questioned the need for a character certificate to validate his commitment to the cause of students protesting over the alleged NEET examination leak. In a shared video message, Wangchuk defended his actions while expressing the importance of securing formal assurances.

After 26 days of fasting, Wangchuk concluded his protest upon receiving written assurance from the Union Government about addressing concerns related to the NEET examination and implementing systemic reforms in the competitive testing framework of India. He highlighted that, despite earlier verbal assurances, a formal agreement was crucial and contributed to a delay in ending his strike.

A nearly two-hour meeting with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh preceded Wangchuk’s decision, during which CJP representatives reported that the government required more time to deliberate on their demand for Pradhan’s resignation. According to sources, the government sought time until the afternoon of July 26 to respond to the CJP’s requests.
