Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has highlighted the importance of enhancing education, skills, technology, and infrastructure within the state. He articulated that adapting to contemporary needs is essential for creating more opportunities for the youth of Bihar. Addressing a recent programme, he announced that 211 locations previously lacking degree colleges have now been equipped with this educational facility, which commenced operations on July 15. He confirmed that all teachers were in place and actively teaching since August 10, with plans for the recruitment of permanent staff within the next three months.

Furthermore, Choudhary mentioned the establishment of 511 modern schools, which are currently conducting live classes. He noted the introduction of online teaching options for students, stating that teachers would be available via this format until 11 PM starting from August 15. These initiatives are aimed at improving access to education and ensuring students receive quality instruction.

Utilisation of Technology and AI

The Chief Minister also underscored the evolving role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in education and other sectors. He remarked on the historical significance of Bihar, referencing its past academic institutions such as Nalanda and Vikramshila universities, and how these foundations can inspire future growth. Choudhary declared the introduction of AI in two to three state departments, with plans to establish an AI Centre of Excellence at the LNMI institution, reinforcing the state’s commitment to embracing technological advancements.

Additionally, he announced ambitious plans to develop twelve new cities within Bihar, with a focus on elevating the standards of townships surrounding Patna. Upholding that education is the priority, he reiterated the need for strategic planning regarding land use and transactions to facilitate these developments.

Choudhary disclosed that a master plan addressing restrictions on land buying and selling is in the works, with an estimated investment of Rs 8 lakh crore designated for the development of the Patna township. This commitment marks a significant stride towards modernising Bihar’s urban landscape.

Infrastructure Development Initiatives

Infrastructure improvements have also been placed at the forefront of the Chief Minister’s agenda. Choudhary highlighted the completion of a 21-kilometre Ganga Marine Drive, which has been modelled after Mumbai’s famous Marine Drive. He stated that the development project, financed with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore, satisfies essential civic needs and demonstrates significant urban planning progress. He projected a total investment of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore focused on realising these infrastructural goals, with a timeline aiming for full completion of the Marine Drive by 2030.

Emphasising collaboration, he expressed the necessity of public-private partnership (PPP) models, underlining that engaging the private sector could enhance efficiency in development projects. In terms of sports infrastructure, an investment of Rs 500 crore by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was announced for the redevelopment of the Mohini Look Stadium in Patna. This stadium is set to reinvigorate sports culture within the region, as it previously hosted the World Cup in 1996, but has since remained inactive.

In conclusion, the Chief Minister urged local citizens to invest in the beautification of their hometowns and emphasised collaborative efforts towards development. He advised that land adjacent to the Building Construction Department has been earmarked for institutional construction, with implementation commencing shortly. Choudhary further requested the allocation of 10 acres for the upcoming township project, encouraging community engagement in fostering Bihar’s growth.
