82-Year-Old Woman Dies After Jumping from 14th-Floor Apartment in Jaipur

An 82-year-old woman allegedly jumped from the14th floor of an apartment in Harmada area of Jaipur on Thursday morning, confirmed police. The woman has been identified as Laxmi Jain, she was staying with her daughter and son-in-law in Sun City residential complex.

Harmada Police Station SHO Uday Singh Yadav said that the 82-year-old was staying with her daughter, at the time of the incident her daughter and son-in-law were in Ajmer. As per the reports, the deceased was unwell, she had eyesight problems, thus her daughter had locked the flat from outside, so that she remains safe inside. Yadav said that it is suspected that the woman jumped from the balcony of the apartment early morning on Thursday. Seeing the old woman lying unconscious on the ground, neighbors immediately informed the police. She was taken to a nearby hospital, however by that time, she was dead. “Body is sent for a post-mortem examination and her daughter has been informed. Evidence has been collected and investigation is underway.” Police noted that the apartment was locked from the outside when they arrived.

“Prima facie, the case appears to be one of suicide. However, further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident,” SHO Yadav said.
