The CSR Journal Magazine

The Ghaziabad Police successfully apprehended Gaurav Nagar, a criminal listed with a reward of Rs 50,000, during an encounter on the morning of June 13, 2026. Injuries were sustained by the accused amidst the gunfire exchange, and he was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical attention.

Details of the Operation and Capture

According to law enforcement sources, actionable intelligence was received regarding Nagar’s movements. He was reportedly travelling from Banthla to Chirori, prompting the Loni Police to initiate a checking operation along the Banthla-Chirori route, near the canal. Police observed a white Swift car coming towards them and signalled for it to halt; however, the driver allegedly attempted to evade the police.

During the ensuing chase, the Swift car crashed into a tree. Following the collision, Nagar purportedly exited the vehicle and fired at the police team in an effort to escape. In response, the officers acted in self-defence, injuring him in both legs before taking him into custody. He was then admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Upon questioning, Nagar identified himself as the son of Gajraj and a resident of Badalpur village within Gautam Buddh Nagar district. He allegedly confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Omkar Singh, whose body was reportedly disposed of in the Ganganaar area on Meerut Road.

Recovered Items and Criminal Background

During the operation, several items were confiscated from Nagar’s possession, including a Swift car, a .32 bore pistol, two live cartridges, and two expended cartridges. Officials stated that Nagar has multiple criminal cases pending against him at different police jurisdictions across the National Capital Region.

The Loni Police team, following a well-coordinated effort, executed the operation based on the information received, successfully neutralising the threat posed by the accused. Further legal proceedings are currently underway to address the various charges against him, including his alleged role in the homicide case.

In light of Nagar’s previous criminal activities, authorities had set a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his capture. The ongoing investigations will likely delve deeper into his criminal affiliations and any potential accomplices involved in the aforementioned crimes.
