The CSR Journal Magazine

Xiaomi has officially unveiled its Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro smartphones, which are part of the new T-series. These models are introduced globally and feature Leica cameras alongside MediaTek chipsets. Scheduled for launch in India on June 4, the Xiaomi 17T has garnered attention for its specifications.

Both the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro exhibit significant differences, despite sharing a common name. The 17T boasts a 6.59-inch AMOLED display characterised by a 1.5K resolution, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and an impressive peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Meanwhile, the 17T Pro features a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with a smoother refresh rate of 144Hz.

In terms of performance, the 17T is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, supported by Xiaomi’s proprietary Surge T1 Plus and T1S processors. It also incorporates a 3D Ice Loop cooling system to effectively manage temperature during intense usage. An Astro Communication feature allows offline messaging over distances of up to 1.3 kilometres under optimal conditions. The 17T Pro, in contrast, is equipped with the more advanced MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset.

Camera and Battery Specifications

Both smartphones come equipped with a triple camera system fine-tuned by Leica, featuring a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens that supports 5x optical zoom and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The primary camera of the 17T incorporates a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 sensor, while the Pro significantly upgrades to a Light Fusion 950 sensor. Each model also includes a 32-megapixel front camera, capable of recording video in 4K HDR10 at up to 60 frames per second.

Battery capacity is another area in which the Pro model outperforms the standard 17T. The 17T is equipped with a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 67W wired charging. Conversely, the 17T Pro features a larger 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging options. Both devices are aligned with Android 16 and operate on HyperOS 3, ensuring seamless integration within the Xiaomi ecosystem.

In terms of their market availability, both models are designed to cater to a wide audience and have already been made available in the UK and various European markets.

Pricing and Colour Options

The Xiaomi 17T is priced at EUR 749 (approximately Rs 83,500) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage option, while the 512GB variant is offered at EUR 799 (about Rs 89,000).
