Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Pratibha Samman Ceremony’ held on July 27, 2026, at the Government Secondary School in Roorkee, Haridwar district. The event was organised by Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan to recognise contributions to education and cultural preservation.

In a statement shared on X, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the state government’s efforts to enhance the national and international status of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage. He mentioned that 27 local products have recently been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, fostering their unique identity and broader market access.

According to Dhami, the GI tags will not only benefit local producers, farmers, and artisans but also improve their income opportunities and create more jobs in the region. He underscored the significance of promoting traditional handicrafts and local industries to strengthen the state’s economy.

Tributes Paid to Sant Ravidas at State-Level Workshop

Earlier, Chief Minister Dhami took part in a state-level workshop under the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan, celebrating the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj. The workshop took place at a local hotel on Tyagi Road in Dehradun.

During the workshop, Dhami paid homage to the revered saint, emphasising how Guru Ravidas’s teachings resonate in contemporary society. He stated that the tenets of Guru Ravidas remain pivotal in guiding citizens towards ideals of equality, humanity, and social justice.

The Chief Minister expressed that the life of Sant Ravidas exemplifies the rich cultural legacy of India, advocating for the eradication of social evils such as untouchability and discrimination based on caste. Dhami remarked that Guru Ravidas believed a person’s worth should be defined by their character rather than their caste. This belief aligns with the ideals of a just and harmonious society.

Guru Ravidas’s Message of Equality and Harmony

Chief Minister Dhami reflected on the simplicity and depth of Guru Ravidas’s teachings, which advocate for unadorned devotion and purity of heart. He quoted the saint’s famous teaching, “Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga,” illustrating that a pure mind is paramount, regardless of external circumstances.

He further elaborated on Guru Ravidas’s vision for an egalitarian society, where every individual is respected, and discrimination is absent. The concept of Begampura, a place devoid of sorrow and inequality, was highlighted as a powerful guiding principle.

In closing, Dhami noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is actively implementing the principles of social harmony and Antyodaya espoused by Guru Ravidas. The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment to translate these ideals into real-action policies aimed at uplifting the marginalised segments of society.
