The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially announced the notification for the Combined State Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Examination 2026. The recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 500 positions across various administrative and allied services. Online applications commenced on June 25 and will remain open until July 27, 2026. Candidates can register by visiting the UPPSC official website, uppsc.up.nic.in.

As part of the application process, candidates are required to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) prior to submitting their applications. Individuals who have not yet generated an OTR number must ensure this is done at least 72 hours before applying, as application submissions are contingent on OTR verification.

The commission has set July 27 as the deadline for payment of examination fees and submission of online applications. Additionally, candidates will have until August 3 to make any necessary corrections or modifications to their submitted application forms.

Job Roles and Posts Available

The UPPSC has indicated that the recruitment effort encompasses around 500 vacancies, with the potential for this number to fluctuate based on departmental needs. The examination will encompass multiple Group A and Group B positions, such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Block Development Officer (BDO), and several others, including roles within education, taxation, food safety, and public service.

Apart from the posts previously mentioned, the recruitment will also include positions like District Basic Education Officer, Commercial Tax Officer, Food Safety Officer, and Deputy Jailor, among others. Candidates interested in these roles will undergo a competitive examination process as part of the selection criteria.

The comprehensive nature of the recruitment drive aims to attract qualified individuals for essential roles within the state administration, thus enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of public services in Uttar Pradesh.

Eligibility Criteria for Candidates

To be eligible for the UPPSC PCS 2026 examination, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university by the application deadline. Certain positions may demand additional qualifications in disciplines such as law, engineering, education, agriculture, psychology, or specialised fields related to the roles being offered.

The age limit for most positions is set between 21 and 40 years as of July 1, 2026, indicating that applicants should be born between July 2, 1986, and July 1, 2005. However, the notification outlines specific age relaxations applicable to reserved categories, persons with disabilities, as well as state government employees and ex-servicemen, as per government regulations.

The selection procedure for these positions will entail a Preliminary Examination, succeeded by the Main (Written) Examination and an Interview. The preliminary exam is designed to take place in various centres throughout Uttar Pradesh, and candidates who qualify will need to submit a separate application for the main exam.

Examination Fees and Important Guidelines

The examination fee structure is as follows: candidates from General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay Rs 125, which includes Rs 100 for the examination fee and an additional Rs 25 for online processing. For SC and ST candidates, the fee is Rs 65, while PwD candidates are required to pay Rs 25. Ex-servicemen will also have to pay Rs 65.

Candidates are advised to maintain records of every phase of the application process, including the OTR, fee payment, and final submission. Regular checks on the official website for updates regarding the examination are also recommended to ensure that candidates are well-informed of any changes or additional requirements.

The UPPSC encourages all prospective candidates to prepare systematically and adhere to the guidelines provided to facilitate a smooth application process, as the examination dates approach.
