Trump Shares India Today Cover Featuring Modi After G7 Meeting

The CSR Journal Magazine

US President Donald Trump has reposted the cover image of India Today magazine, which features Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labelling them as the “Newsmakers of the Year 2025”. This action took place a day after the two leaders held discussions on various topics during the G7 summit in France.

The magazine cover showcases photographs of Trump and Modi, accompanied by the phrase “The mover & the shaker.” This is not the first instance of Trump promoting the magazine; he initially shared it in February, which garnered attention in both the United States and India.

This repost follows a media interaction where Trump expressed high praise for Modi, highlighting their discussions surrounding trade, defence cooperation, security matters, and developments in West Asia.

Trade Negotiations and Leadership Praise

During the media event, Trump offered insights into the ongoing negotiations for a proposed trade agreement between India and the United States. He characterised Modi as one of the most formidable leaders he has encountered in negotiations. When asked about the status of the trade deal, Trump stated, “We are very close. He is a very tough negotiator. One of the toughest.”

Trump’s remarks drew attention, especially where he described Modi as soft-spoken yet an effective negotiator. He complimented Modi’s appearance and effectively communicated his strong negotiating skills, stating, “He is the most beautiful looking man, he looks so nice, he is like an angel. But actually he is just tough, he is a killer.”

He further clarified the paradox of Modi’s persona, asserting that while people may perceive him as amiable, he is in fact a tough trader in negotiations. Trump’s comments underscore the complexity of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Future Engagements and Defence Cooperation

Trump expressed his eagerness to visit India again, recalling his previous trips where he received overwhelming public support. “We will be going to India sometime in the future,” he remarked, reminiscing about his visit in 2020 and the extensive crowds that greeted him.

In discussing the bilateral relationship, Trump lauded the collaborative efforts in defence between India and the United States. He conveyed the belief that their relationship is strong, stating, “If they were attacked, we would be there to help them.”

Additionally, he reiterated his protective stance towards Modi, saying, “If anybody attacks that man, we are going to be there,” highlighting the depth of their partnership and mutual support.
