Trump Claims “Total Control” Over Iran Blockade, Warns Tehran of Rising Costs

The CSR Journal Magazine

US President Donald Trump declared that the United States maintains complete control over its blockade concerning Iran, describing the measures as notably effective. During a press interaction at the White House on April 24, Trump asserted that the blockade is operationally significant and has deterred any attempts by Iran to circumvent it.

He elaborated that Iran’s alleged military actions against various nations in the region could have drastic repercussions. The President particularly mentioned attacks attributed to Iran on countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, emphasising that many observers were not expecting Iran to engage in hostilities against such a broad range of nations.

In his statements, Trump stated, “For Iran to shoot at Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, all the different places, they shot, nobody expected that.” He indicated that these actions could be deemed a significant mistake on Iran’s part.

Trump Claims No Pressure to Negotiate with Iran

In a separate commentary on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump noted that he feels no pressure to conclude the ongoing conflict with Iran. He maintained that Iran is currently in a deteriorated military and economic state, asserting that any negotiations would only occur when beneficial to the United States and its allies.

Trump’s comments included a direct address to critics and media sceptics, stating that the notion he is eager to end the strife with Iran is fundamentally unfounded. He declared, “I have all the time in the world, but Iran doesn’t — the clock is ticking!” This statement reflects his belief that the urgency lies more with Iran than with the US.

Furthermore, Trump remarked on the struggling credibility of some news outlets, alleging that their declining subscription and viewership numbers are a result of a loss of trust among audiences.

Military State of Iran According to Trump

In his Truth Social post, Trump delineated his perceptions of Iran’s military capabilities, claiming that its naval forces are severely impaired and that its air force is essentially ruined. He further asserted that critical assets like anti-aircraft and radar systems are nonexistent.

Continuing, Trump contended that Iran’s leadership is in a weakened position within the geopolitical landscape, reinforcing his viewpoint that the blockade imposed is both comprehensive and effective. He expressed that the situation for Iran will only worsen if their approach remains unchanged.

Concluding his remarks, Trump reiterated that any potential agreement with Iran would be contingent upon conditions favourable to the United States and its global allies. He emphasised, “A deal will only be made when it’s appropriate and good for the United States of America, our Allies and, in fact, the rest of the World.” This statement underscores the strategic priorities of the US government in the context of ongoing tensions with Iran.
