Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced that the state government is planning to support local farmers in the regions where centralised kitchens operate. This initiative aims to directly procure vegetables, rice, and other essential supplies from farmers, enhancing their economic viability.

During a meeting with representatives from the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, Divi’s Laboratories Limited, and Aurobindo Pharma Limited at the MCRHRD Institute in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister confirmed the government’s commitment towards promoting organic farming among local farmers. This approach is intended to strengthen the supply chain for centralised kitchens that serve welfare programmes.

Reddy stated that as part of this initiative, the government will take measures to ensure farmers have access to quality seeds, which are vital for diversifying crops and improving profitability. The Chief Minister highlighted that these actions would not only assist farmers in generating better incomes but also enhance the overall efficiency of the food supply system.

Corporate Social Responsibility Contributions Made

During the same meeting, Divi’s Laboratories Limited and Aurobindo Pharma Limited presented Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation for a breakfast scheme in government schools. Aurobindo Pharma Limited contributed Rs 10 crore, while Divi’s Laboratories Limited provided Rs 12.18 crore towards this initiative.

The breakfast scheme is part of an effort to improve nutrition among students in government schools, an area the Chief Minister underscored as crucial for their development. Revanth Reddy praised both companies for their generous contributions and emphasised the importance of quality meals in ensuring that students receive adequate nutrition.

Government Advisor Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, and the President of the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation were present during this significant event. Their participation highlighted the collaborative effort between government agencies and private organisations in addressing educational welfare.
