Seventeen fishermen were successfully rescued from the Arabian Sea after their fishing vessel experienced a mechanical failure, according to officials. A request from civil authorities initiated the Navy’s involvement, leading to the deployment of an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk III from the Eastern Naval Command on July 6.

The evacuation was executed efficiently, with the helicopter using a rescue hoist to bring the stranded individual aboard. After providing necessary medical assistance, the fisherman was handed over to civil authorities at Visakhapatnam. The Navy’s coordinated efforts reflect their commitment to maritime safety and rapid response during such critical situations.

Additionally, on July 4, another incident occurred off the coast of Mumbai, where the Indian Navy’s Sea King helicopter conducted an urgent medical evacuation. This operation involved a seafarer from the SCI crude oil tanker MT Desh Shakti. Despite adverse weather conditions, including a red alert due to continuous rains and poor visibility, the helicopter successfully evacuated the injured individual, ensuring he received prompt medical attention after stabilisation onboard.
