‘Serial Bride’ Scam: Woman Allegedly Dupes Multiple Men In Beed

The CSR Journal Magazine

A suspected scam involving a woman who has allegedly married several men under false pretences has emerged in Beed district, Maharashtra. This incident has drawn attention after a local man, Yogesh Shinde, reportedly filed a complaint with the police, claiming he was deceived out of significant sums of money following a sham marriage. The case is believed to be part of a larger scheme targeting unsuspecting bachelors.

The investigation began when Shinde detailed how he was introduced to the woman through middlemen who professed to facilitate a genuine marriage. Reportedly, he was persuaded to hand over large amounts of money to these agents during the arrangement. Despite the marriage ceremony occurring, the bride and the facilitators allegedly vanished shortly thereafter, leaving Shinde in distress.

Upon further inquiry, Shinde discovered that the woman had evidently married eight other men previously and had absconded in similar circumstances each time, taking with her considerable amounts of cash and valuable items.

Victim Seeks Justice from Authorities

Disturbed by his experience, Yogesh Shinde reached out to the district police for action against those involved in what he describes as a scam. In his complaint to the Superintendent of Police in Beed, he expressed feelings of despair, stating, “I have been cheated of lakhs of rupees and the situation has pushed me towards suicidal thoughts. I want justice.”

He further indicated that he was completely unaware of the woman’s prior matrimonial history, claiming that the agents concealed critical details from him prior to the wedding. The situation not only caused emotional trauma but also significant financial loss, leading him to seek legal redress.

A formal complaint has since been lodged at Chaklamba police station, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter. This has raised serious questions about the vulnerability of individuals in similar situations, particularly in rural areas where marriage prospects can be limited.

Police Investigate Alleged Racket Targeting Rural Areas

According to Shinde’s complaint, this alleged scam seems directed at unmarried men in more rural regions of Beed district, where families often face difficulties in finding suitable brides. Police suspect that the criminal network may have used agents to identify and exploit particularly vulnerable individuals.

Investigators believe these agents collected large sums of money from victims under the guise of marriage arrangements. In multiple instances, the newlywed bride is thought to have disappeared shortly after marriage, taking with her not only cash but also jewellery and other valuables. The nature of the scam has raised alarms throughout the district.

Authorities are actively working to trace additional members of the alleged gang and are investigating how many other victims may have been similarly affected by this fraudulent scheme. Police have expressed their commitment to addressing the situation thoroughly and ensuring justice for those who have suffered due to this deception.
