Seafood Expo Asia 2026 to Spotlight Trade, Technology and Sustainability in Singapore

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Seafood Expo Asia and Seafood Processing Asia have officially released their conference programme for 2026, ahead of the fourteenth edition of the event scheduled for 2–4 September at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. This year’s programme, which is free for registered visitors, will feature prominent industry leaders, technology experts, and policymakers, who will explore significant challenges and opportunities that are influencing the future of the seafood sector across Asia.

One of the key sessions, titled Seafood in the Spotlight: Trust. Taste. Tomorrow’s Consumer, will unveil findings from a bi-annual survey carried out by GlobeScan on behalf of the Marine Stewardship Council. The research examines consumer attitudes in over twenty global markets. With the insights being shared in Singapore following their introduction at Seafood Expo Global in April, the timing allows for an exploration of how sustainability expectations, economic pressures, and changing retail landscapes are influencing consumer behaviour and trust.

Another critical topic will address the Asian shrimp trade, focusing on how to rebalance an export-dependent supply chain amidst fluctuating demand and pricing signals from major markets. With reduced import demand from China and heightened tariffs in the US, coupled with varying farm outputs, discussions will highlight the implications on trade flows and pricing strategies. Industry experts will evaluate which producers are positioned to maintain margins and access markets in the years ahead.

Innovations in Aquaculture and Processing

Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss the rapid development of recirculating aquaculture systems in Asia in a session titled RAS Fish Farming: Why is Asia Leading the Way. This panel will provide insight into the challenges faced, along with successful case studies from various markets in the region. Participants will examine what this leadership in aquaculture technology means for sustainable fish production worldwide.

A separate session will address Asia’s increasing requirements for seafood processing, focusing on advancements in automation and the impact of consumer trends on the industry. The discussion will cover how challenging market conditions prompt processors to rethink their operational strategies, utilising innovative tools for optimisation of resources while ensuring sustainability and profitability. Key industry figures, including Marcel Franz, Managing Director of BAADER Asia, will share their views on these changes.

Eric Enno Tamm, the CEO of ThisFish Inc., will present on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in seafood supply chains during The Definitive Guide to AI & the Tuna Value Chain session. He will detail the applications of technologies such as machine learning and computer vision, and outline the future vision of an AI-enhanced value chain within the tuna industry.

Addressing Food Fraud and Cybersecurity Risks

A timely session convened by FAO GLOBEFISH will tackle the issue of Food Fraud: Mislabeling, Market Demand and Consumer Trust. Citing FAO’s recent paper on food fraud within fisheries, this discussion will shed light on the alarming rates of mislabelling, notably in processed goods and hospitality. It will evaluate how price incentives and governance gaps contribute to these issues while exploring potential measures that stakeholders can implement to combat fraud.

The Invisible Net: Securing the Digital Integrity and Resilience of the Asian Seafood Supply Chain will delve into cybersecurity challenges in a rapidly digitising sector. This session, led by the President of the Cyber Security Alliance for the Seafood Industry (CSAFI), will discuss the growing vulnerabilities introduced by IoT, AI, and blockchain technologies. With cyber incidents reportedly increasing over nine hundred per cent in five years, the session will outline strategies for protecting operational technologies and ensuring data integrity.
