Salman Khan’s family-owned property in Bandra is reportedly advancing in the redevelopment process. Although there are ongoing whispers concerning the actor potentially vacating his long-standing residence at Galaxy Apartments, both Salman Khan and his family have yet to formally confirm any intention to relocate.

A report by India Today indicates that the seaside property has been part of the Khan family’s real estate assets for over a decade, not a recent acquisition. The property has once again come into focus following the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority’s (MCZMA) endorsement of its redevelopment proposal, signalling a move towards securing the necessary approvals for the project.

This proposal was deliberated during the MCZMA’s 198th meeting, which took place on June 16. The official minutes from the meeting reportedly mention that the redevelopment pertains to a residential site in Bandra (West), where an older structure was previously located. This existing building has already been demolished with the appropriate permissions obtained.

Details of the Proposal and Regulatory Classification

The Khan family is now said to be planning the construction of a six-storey sea-facing residence on the site. The MCZMA has given its recommendation regarding the proposal from a Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) standpoint. Following this, the proposal will be sent to the appropriate planning authority for further statutory approvals before any construction can commence.

The property is categorised under CRZ-II, which permits redevelopment according to prevailing regulations. The authority also requested clarifications about the land ownership. After the necessary documents were furnished by those behind the project, the proposal was approved for further review.

It is important to note that the MCZMA’s recommendation does not equate to final approval. The project must still adhere to all relevant statutory obligations before any actual construction can take place.

Clarifications Regarding Relocation Speculations

The announcement regarding the redevelopment has reignited speculation around whether Salman Khan and his family might eventually depart from Galaxy Apartments and transition to the new residence once it is constructed. However, insiders quoted by India Today have reportedly clarified that this Bandra property has been in the Khan family for many years and is only now entering the redevelopment stage.

Currently, there is no timeline confirmed for the new bungalow’s construction, and the family has not made any announcements regarding a potential shift from Galaxy Apartments. This situation unfolds more than two years after an incident involving gunfire outside the Galaxy Apartments in April 2024, which subsequently led to enhanced security measures around Salman Khan’s residence.

From a professional perspective, Salman Khan is actively engaged in shooting for his upcoming film directed by Vamshi Paidipally. The film features Nayanthara and is being produced by Dil Raju. Additionally, Khan’s film Maatrubhumi, which is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, has yet to be assigned an official release date.
