Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to begin a two-day visit to Kargil and Ladakh, starting from Saturday, July 29. This visit includes participation in the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations scheduled for July 26 at Drass. The event commemorates India’s victory in the Kargil War, which took place in 1999, and serves as a moment to honour the sacrifices made by the armed forces.

Singh’s visit is significant as it aligns with the national observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day dedicated to remembering the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers who defended the nation’s sovereignty during the conflict. The Defence Minister’s presence at this noteworthy event underscores the importance of acknowledging the valour of the armed forces.

Prior to Singh’s visit, various members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha paid their respects to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the war. The commemoration highlights the unwavering commitment of the armed forces to the nation’s integrity and security.

Ceremonial Tributes in Parliament

On the same day, Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan led tributes in Parliament, emphasising the nation’s collective memory of the Kargil War. He stated, “This House pays its respectful homage to the gallant martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.” His words reflect a deep appreciation for the dedication of armed forces across the country.

Radhakrishnan further expressed gratitude toward all armed forces members, acknowledging their courage and determination amid considerable challenges. The ceremony serves to inspire future generations about the importance of national unity and sovereignty.

The discussions in the Parliament reiterate the spirit of remembrance and the ongoing commitment to uphold the values represented by those who served during the Kargil conflict. Kargil Vijay Diwas has become an important observance that reaffirms the resolve of the nation in protecting its territorial integrity.

Launch of the BHAVYA Rasayan Scheme

In addition to his Kargil visit, Rajnath Singh also welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval of the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana Rasayan (BHAVYA Rasayan) Scheme, describing it as a transformative initiative for India’s chemical industry. Singh stated that this scheme is poised to establish world-class chemical parks throughout the nation, representing a substantial advancement in the sector.

He highlighted that the BHAVYA Rasayan Scheme aims to enhance India’s chemical manufacturing landscape significantly. According to Singh, this initiative is expected to attract both domestic and international investments while generating large-scale employment opportunities across various regions of India.

The Defence Minister remarked that this landmark decision will bolster the entire chemical value chain and promote sustainable industrial development. He expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in approving such a progressive initiative, indicating its potential to integrate India more closely into global value chains and reinforce self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
