Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has provided in-principle approval for the establishment of a new suburban railway station between Thane and Mulund. This station will be situated on the Central Railway main line in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The announcement was made on May 8, in a letter directed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The approval is aimed at enhancing suburban rail connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. In his letter, the Minister acknowledged previous discussions held with the Chief Minister concerning the project and assured that the necessary approvals were forthcoming. This development is viewed as a significant step towards improving public transport in the area.
Minister Vaishnaw’s communication emphasised the potential positive impact of the new station on local commuters. It addresses growing concerns about congestion and the need for more efficient transit options between these two busy regions.
Government Reaction to the Approval
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed appreciation for the approval, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support. He indicated that the construction of the new station represents a pivotal moment for enhancing transport in the Mumbai metropolis.
