A 13-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man have tragically lost their lives after allegedly ingesting poison in Nawanshahr district, Punjab, reportedly due to significant losses sustained in online gaming coupled with familial pressure. The incident occurred on August 10, 2026, when the three friends consumed a toxic substance while together. They were later transported to a hospital for medical attention.

Paramjit Singh Khalsa, aged 13, was pronounced dead on the same day, while his companion, Dilpreet Singh, 21, died from his injuries the following day. A third individual, 15-year-old Maninder Singh, remains in treatment, with reports indicating that his condition is improving.

The boys were described as close friends who frequently spent time together, participating in online gaming activities. The village Sarpanch, Hardeep Singh, mentioned that it was believed one of the boys experienced considerable financial losses whilst gaming, leading to intense mental distress and family pressure regarding the situation.

The community came together to pay their respects, attending the final prayers and funeral service to bid farewell to the 13-year-old, whom villagers fondly referred to as ‘Chhote Khalsa.’
