Ketan Agarwal was seen as a promising young man, active in a family-run real estate business and engaged to Siya Goyal. Their engagement, arranged earlier in 2026, appeared to fulfil family expectations, with wedding plans already underway, including a grand ceremony booked in Udaipur.

However, unbeknownst to Ketan, Siya was reportedly maintaining a relationship with Chetan, who is based in Kondhwa, Pune. Police investigation revealed that the two had exchanged over 2,000 calls between January 1 and June 18, indicating a close connection that Ketan was likely unaware of.

Investigators discovered that Siya had reservations about her impending marriage to Ketan, preferring to continue her relationship with Chetan, which may have led to a drastic plan to eliminate Ketan rather than simply refusing the marriage.

Unraveling the Murder Plot

The first attempt on Ketan’s life began on June 14, 2026, when Siya allegedly returned to Lohagad Fort with him, intending to engineer a snake scare to push him towards the gorge’s edge. However, this attempt failed, as Ketan did not react as they had planned.

Following the unsuccessful attempt, Siya devised a new plan using her upcoming birthday on June 20 as a ruse to bring Ketan back to the fort. She suggested a picnic, which Ketan agreed to, unaware of the underlying motive.

On June 18, Ketan, Siya, and a group visited the fort, where Chetan was also present but had taken measures to conceal his whereabouts. At a critical moment, he allegedly struck Ketan before pushing him into the gorge, resulting in Ketan’s death.

After the incident, Siya called the police, claiming that Ketan had slipped. However, detectives became suspicious, particularly given Ketan’s experience as a trekker, prompting a deeper investigation.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

The investigation quickly escalated after the family raised concerns regarding the nature of Ketan’s death. The police examined mobile records and other evidence, leading to the arrests of both Siya and Chetan, who have reportedly confessed to their roles in the alleged crime.
