The Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Arabinda K Padhee, confirmed that extensive preparations are in progress for the upcoming Snana Purnima and Ratha Yatra, significant events in the temple’s calendar. On June 1, he reported that a crucial meeting had been convened to solidify the rituals and schedule for these celebrations, which attract thousands of devotees every year.

Padhee elaborated on the discussions surrounding operational procedures and administrative arrangements that are essential for the smooth observance of both festivals. He noted that with the current focus on preparations, the inventory process of the Ratna Bhandar has been temporarily halted, with plans to resume work after the festivals.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra is a prominent annual Hindu festival celebrated in Puri, Odisha. During this event, the deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra—are transported from their temple in ornate chariots to the Gundicha Temple, known as their aunt’s residence. For the duration of the Rath Yatra, a large number of devotees gather to pull the chariots of the three deities, which are moved a short distance to the Gundicha Temple.
