A first-year medical student has been detained following the discovery of a document containing alleged instructions for bomb-making at the Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous State Medical College in Ayodhya. The document was reportedly found in the X-ray room of the medical facility on Saturday, prompting immediate action from the college authorities.

After the document was unearthed, officials alerted the police, leading to the initiation of an investigation. The incident has invoked memories of the bomb blast at the Red Fort in November 2025, which involved three suspects connected to Faridabad’s Al Falah University.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the document may have been prepared by Sarfaraz, a first-year medical student assigned to the X-ray room on the night prior to the discovery. Sarfaraz, who hails from Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, has been taken into custody for further questioning. Alongside him, two other students who were on duty are also being interrogated.

The handwritten document outlines the components necessary for creating an explosive device, including materials such as gauge wire, ammonium carbonate, red phosphorus, red sulphide, and nitric acid. The precise nature of the document has raised considerable concern among authorities.

Dr Arvind Singh, Chief Medical Superintendent of the college, confirmed that police were notified at the earliest opportunity upon the document’s discovery. He stated, “The investigation is underway, and further action will be taken based on its findings.” While police are in the process of gathering evidence, they have yet to ascertain whether the document is linked to any criminal activity.

In light of this incident, the college administration has increased security measures and directed a review of existing safety protocols on campus. This action aligns with heightened vigilance given past events related to extremist activities in the region.

The timing of this discovery comes months after a terror module reportedly connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed was dismantled. Investigators discovered this cell operated by individuals employed at Al Falah University, which subsequently was tied to an explosion near the Red Fort metro station on November 10, 2025. This tragic incident resulted in the loss of 15 lives and multiple injuries, emphasizing the urgency surrounding the current investigation.
