The Indian government has appointed renowned lyricist and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi to head a new high-level study group aimed at shaping the future of the country’s film industry. This announcement was made on Monday by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). These discrepancies have been identified as significant hurdles in the development of cinema infrastructure, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and rural areas.

The Model State Cinema Regulations intend to streamline the approval process for establishing theatres, thereby encouraging investment in new cinema screens.
