PM Modi Engages with Leaders of Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait Amid Iran Crisis

The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has actively engaged in discussions with the leaders of Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait to address the well-being of the Indian community in light of the ongoing conflict involving Iran. During these talks, Modi condemned the recent Iranian attacks on these nations, emphasizing India’s commitment to regional stability. This latest round of dialogues marked a continuation of Modi’s efforts, as he has previously spoken with leaders from all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

Condemnation of Sovereignty Violations

In his conversations, the Prime Minister consistently condemned actions that violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these nations. He also expressed gratitude to the leaders for their ongoing support for the Indian community residing in their respective countries. During his interaction with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman, Modi exchanged perspectives on recent developments in West Asia and highlighted the importance of sustained diplomatic efforts for restoring peace in the region.

Strategic Importance of Oman

Oman plays a critical role for India, particularly in defense and Indian Ocean maritime security. The nation has granted the Indian Navy access to the strategically significant Port of Duqm, which has also faced Iranian hostilities. This access facilitates maritime cooperation and security in the region, bolstering India’s strategic interests.

Support from Qatar and Kuwait

After his discussions with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, Modi took to social media to express India’s solidarity with Qatar. He condemned any breach of the nation’s sovereignty and stressed the urgent need for peace and stability through dialogue. Modi also conveyed his appreciation for Qatar’s support towards the Indian expatriate community during these challenging times.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi announced he had a constructive dialogue with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah of Kuwait. During their discussion, he reiterated India’s condemnation of any violations against Kuwait’s sovereignty and assured the nation of India’s support during this difficult period. Modi emphasized the importance of diplomatic avenues to achieve regional stability and expressed appreciation for the Kuwaiti leadership’s ongoing care for the safety and well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait.

Focus on Regional Peace and Stability

Throughout these discussions, the overarching theme has been a strong call for regional peace and stability. Both Modi and the leaders he spoke with acknowledged the necessity of dialogue as a means to address the current crisis. As the situation in West Asia continues to evolve, India remains committed to working closely with its Gulf partners to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad while fostering diplomatic relations in pursuit of regional harmony.
