PM Modi Attended Release of Ram Nath Kovind’s Autobiography

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced his participation in a programme on August 12 to commemorate the launch of former President Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, titled “Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles.” The event took place at 9:30 AM. In a statement posted on X, PM Modi expressed his anticipation for the occasion, highlighting the significance of the autobiography.

During his message, PM Modi indicated that the book recounts Kovind’s extraordinary life journey and his commitment to serving society. The Prime Minister’s involvement further emphasises the importance of the occasion in recognising Kovind’s contributions to the nation.

Profile of Ram Nath Kovind

Ram Nath Kovind, who served as the 14th President of India from July 2017 to July 2022, has had a notable public service career. Prior to his presidency, he held the position of Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017. Born on October 1, 1945, in the village of Paraunkh in Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, Kovind pursued a career in law after studying commerce. He practised at the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

Kovind entered politics through the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was a member of the Rajya Sabha representing Uttar Pradesh from 1994 to 2006. His tenure included participation in various parliamentary committees, contributing to legislative processes and discussions.

During his presidency, Kovind travelled extensively, covering significant distances across India and internationally. He prioritised various issues, including education, social empowerment, and the welfare of underprivileged communities. His efforts were aimed at promoting good governance and inclusivity throughout his term.

Post-Presidency Contributions

Following the conclusion of his presidential term in July 2022, Ram Nath Kovind has remained engaged with public and social initiatives.
