NEET UG 2026 Re-Test Results to be Declared by July 20: NTA

The CSR Journal Magazine

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the results of the re-NEET UG 2026 will be made public by July 20. A senior official confirmed this news to ANI, providing assurance that the academic schedules for medical courses will not experience any delays. The re-examination took place on June 21, following the cancellation of the originally scheduled exam on May 3 due to serious allegations concerning a paper leak involving over 20 lakh candidates.

According to the official, the agency is currently implementing measures on a “war footing” to expedite the evaluation process. This includes addressing approximately 10,000 objections that candidates have raised concerning the provisional answer key. Each of these challenges is being meticulously reviewed, verified, and cross-checked with supporting documents before a final decision is reached.

Scrutiny of Provisional Answer Key and Candidate Challenges

The NTA released the provisional answer key on June 25, allowing candidates the opportunity to raise objections by June 28 for a fee of Rs 200 per question, which is refundable if the objection is upheld. The NTA officials reported that nearly 10,000 challenges had been submitted, all of which will undergo rigorous checks in accordance with established verification protocols aimed at ensuring accuracy and transparency.

Despite the re-examination, the NTA is committed to ensuring that the MBBS academic year commences as initially scheduled. This includes the timely release of counselling schedules following the announcement of results. The Medical Counselling Committee will facilitate admissions for All India Quota seats, while individual states will oversee their respective counselling processes.

Candidates will be required to register online, express their preferences, and the allocation of seats will be determined based on factors like rank, category, reservation norms, and seat availability. Various rounds of counselling, including mop-up and stray vacancy rounds, will be conducted to ensure that all available seats are filled prior to the commencement of the academic year.

States Initiate Preparatory Admissions Ahead of Results

Several states, including Tamil Nadu, have already initiated preparations for admissions, pending the final NEET results. Officials have indicated that the counselling process this year is expected to adhere to a timeline similar to previous years, starting with Round 1 soon after the results are published. Typically, the first-year MBBS courses commence between August and September, contingent on the completion of counselling rounds.

Detailed counselling schedules are anticipated to be released by various states following the NEET results, providing candidates the necessary information to finalise their preferences and complete the admission process without undue delays. Ensuring a smooth transition from the examination phase to the admissions phase remains a top priority for the involved agencies.

In conclusion, the NTA’s efforts to efficiently manage the evaluation and admissions process underline its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the academic calendar for medical aspirants. The cooperation between state authorities and the NTA aims to streamline the entire admission process, facilitating a seamless experience for candidates.
