A man was interrogated by police in Bilaspur on Saturday for allegedly participating in a ritual involving the photograph of the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court. This unusual attempt to secure bail for a relative was reported following the observation of suspicious activities by villagers in Devri village. On the night between Friday and Saturday, four individuals were seen engaging in these activities at a local cremation ground.

According to reports, while three of the suspects managed to escape, one was apprehended. The individual, identified as Rishikesh Kumar, was subsequently handed over to law enforcement authorities. Police investigations revealed that various ritualistic items were discovered at the scene, including fish, lemons, vermilion, and photographs related to Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and two other individuals.

Officials specified that one photograph belonged to Priyanshu Bole, a relative of Kumar, while the other depicted a victim from a stabbing incident. These developments have raised concerns about the lengths to which individuals might go to influence legal proceedings.

During the interrogation, Kumar reportedly disclosed that his relative, Priyanshu Bole, had been arrested in connection with a stabbing case. While one of the co-accused in the case had successfully secured bail, the requests from the others, including Bole, remained unresolved in the courts. This context highlights the desperation that may lead individuals to resort to unconventional methods for legal relief.

Further investigation revealed that Kumar and his companions sought to replicate a ritual they had seen performed in a video featuring a tantrik who claimed such practices could assist in obtaining bail. Authorities have urged caution regarding such practices, emphasizing that they are not recognised by the legal system as valid methods for obtaining bail. They reiterated the importance of adhering to legal protocols and processes in the pursuit of justice.

Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh commented on the incident, warning against the performance of such rituals. He affirmed that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in similar activities, stating, “Bail cannot be obtained by performing any ritual. Criminals should reform themselves.” This statement underscores the stance taken by law enforcement regarding the misuse of cultural practices in legal contexts.

Police officials indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with further questioning of Kumar and any associates involved in the ritual still underway. The authorities aim to ensure that all facts are thoroughly examined to prevent such instances from occurring in the future.
