The incident occurred on the early morning of Saturday, April 26, 2026, at the home of the victims. The individual, identified as Amit Gupta, is alleged to have entered Preeti’s parents’ residence and attacked her when she refused to hand over their child.

Details of the Attack

According to the police, Preeti was fatally stabbed when she resisted Amit’s demands. Her mother, Sushila Devi, died while intervening in an attempt to protect her daughter. The situation escalated when Antu Gupta, Preeti’s father, tried to stop the attack and was left critically injured. He is now receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Varanasi.

Sources claim that Amit and Preeti were married in 2022 after a love affair. Family members have stated that issues began to arise following a recent visit to the in-laws’ home. Allegedly, Amit took Preeti to another location after this visit, where he is said to have assaulted her rather than returning her to her family home.

As a result of these ongoing tensions, Preeti had reportedly been residing at her parents’ house for the past ten days prior to the tragic incident. The police have transported the bodies of Sushila Devi and Preeti for post-mortem examinations as part of their investigation.
