A police officer in Maharashtra has been credited for his remarkable act of bravery when he carried a 72-year-old woman on his shoulders through waist-deep floodwaters. The incident occurred on July 6, 2026, in Sarasai, Raigad district, where a state-run bus operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) became stranded due to intense flooding.

The bus was transporting eight passengers at the time it got stuck in the floodwaters. Reports indicate that all passengers were successfully rescued, thanks to the prompt response of personnel from the Rasayani Police, who coordinated with the Help Foundation to execute the operation effectively.

The Raigad Police shared updates of the rescue on social media platform X, highlighting the swift actions taken by their officers. The post emphasised the commitment of the Rasayani Police to their duty, stating that eight passengers were evacuated safely from the stranded bus.

The rescue operation took place amidst severe weather conditions affecting Maharashtra, where continuous heavy rainfall has significantly disrupted daily life.
