A government official in Maharashtra, identified as Vijay Dhulchand Karande, has allegedly attempted to kill his wife and assaulted their minor son at their home in Pune. The incident took place on April 30, and a formal complaint has been lodged with the police by Karande’s wife, aged 30. Following the allegations, a case has been opened by law enforcement authorities.

Details of the Alleged Assault

The complaint alleges that a heated argument erupted when the wife confronted Karande regarding specific conversations on his mobile phone and requested access to his password. As the confrontation escalated, he reportedly attacked her using a bat and attempted to strangle her. It was further reported that the couple’s son was also assaulted when he intervened to protect his mother.

In a bid to escape the violence, the woman managed to flee the residence with her child and subsequently sought assistance from the police. Law enforcement was notified of the situation by the woman, which prompted the filing of charges against Karande.

The police reported that the case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 109(1) for attempted murder, Section 118(1) for voluntarily causing hurt, and Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation. Karande is noted to be serving as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Maharashtra Minister Atul Save in Mumbai and is originally affiliated with the Department of Social Justice in Nanded.

Ongoing Investigation and Police Actions

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivankar confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation. He also mentioned that inquiries are actively ongoing to gather more evidence and understand the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident. The initial report, known as a Zero FIR, was filed in the Ahilyanagar area and has now been transferred to the Pune Police for continued investigation.

Law enforcement officials have emphasised the seriousness of the allegations and are working diligently to ensure that all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined. The incident has raised concerns regarding domestic violence and the safety of individuals in similar situations.
