A 27-year-old woman, Snehal Sawant, employed at the Palghar District Collector’s Office, was critically injured after being attacked with a sharp weapon in broad daylight in Palghar city, Maharashtra. The incident occurred near the Gold Cinema area at approximately 6.30 pm, alarming local residents who witnessed the event unfold.

Initial reports indicate that the assailant repeatedly struck Sawant in the neck and waist before fleeing the scene. Following the attack, the victim was rushed to Palghar Rural Hospital for immediate medical attention. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was subsequently referred to a private hospital in Boisar for advanced treatment.

The attack has raised concerns in the local community, as it took place in a populated location during busy hours. Witnesses expressed shock at the level of violence witnessed in their neighbourhood.

Suspected Motive and Investigation Progress

Police suspect that the attack may stem from tensions related to Sawant’s personal relationship. The accused has been identified as Amol Mule, who reportedly works at the Bombay High Court. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was motivated by a dispute between the two individuals.

Palghar Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh confirmed the ongoing investigation into the matter. He visited the crime scene and spoke with the injured woman to gather details about the circumstances surrounding the attack. Officials stated that inquiries are currently focused on various aspects of the relationship to understand the motive more clearly.

In response to the incident, police teams, led by Police Inspector Anant Parad, arrived promptly at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. A forensic unit has also been dispatched to collect evidence, which will be crucial in reconstructing the sequence of events leading to the assault.
