The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has filed a case involving stand-up comedian Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr Sejal Pawar, and others. This action was taken on Thursday in light of allegations regarding the dissemination of inappropriate and objectionable content across various online platforms and social media. The complaint was formally lodged at the nodal Cyber Police Station located in Mumbai, operating under the Maharashtra Cyber unit.

The legal actions fall under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, specifically Sections 75(1)(iv), 75(3), 294, and 353(2), along with pertinent clauses from the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000. This case reportedly arises from videos and clips that have been circulated on platforms such as YouTube and Instagram, connected to a programme run by More.

Officials assert that the content in question allegedly includes lewd, offensive, and inappropriate remarks focusing on sensitive topics, including women, consent, and deceased individuals. Such material is claimed to breach the societal expectations regarding decency and respect.

Specific Allegations Against Individuals

The investigation conducted by Maharashtra Cyber has highlighted specific incidents. In one clip, Jangra allegedly made comments that suggested a sense of entitlement to physical intimacy in exchange for money spent during a date. Authorities have indicated that these remarks contribute to a derogatory perception of women and diminish the serious discussion surrounding issues of consent and dignity.

Another troubling segment reportedly features Dr Pawar, who is alleged to have made disrespectful comments concerning deceased male bodies and cadavers intended for medical research. This content is said to undermine the dignity of the deceased, raising concerns about its compatibility with public decency standards.
