The Gurugram couple, Rahul Rathore and his wife, have reported a troubling situation following their In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) procedure. During an exclusive interview with India Today, they disclosed their distress upon discovering that the twins they welcomed are not genetically theirs. The situation arose after they sought treatment at a well-known IVF hospital, prompted by the recommendation of their gynaecologist.

The series of procedures commenced last year with the collection of semen and eggs, leading to the swift development of embryos. On March 14, the medical team successfully implanted the embryos into the wife’s womb. The couple welcomed twin daughters in January, a moment that quickly turned bittersweet when they noticed that the younger twin did not resemble them in any way and exhibited distinct physical features associated with northeastern India.

DNA Test Confirms Shocking Outcome

To address their concerns, the couple opted for a DNA test, which confirmed their worst fears: the twins were not their biological children. This revelation prompted Rahul to take immediate action by appealing to local authorities to investigate the matter. However, he alleged that his efforts met with consistent police inaction, causing further frustration.

“It took three months before the police even registered a case,” Rahul recounted. “The situation only progressed after we involved the court, which led to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) on March 31.” Unfortunately, this legal step faced immediate obstacles as a stay was imposed on the investigation almost immediately after its initiation.

A significant development occurred on June 5, when a competent court mandated the police to seize essential documents from the IVF centre, including embryo log sheets. Although the police have yet to act on this order, Rahul indicated that there has been a noticeable improvement in their responsiveness, with harassment reportedly diminishing since the court’s intervention.

Emotional and Legal Struggles Intensify for the Family

The couple’s ordeal has taken a severe toll on the emotional and physical wellbeing of the mother, who described the experience as exceedingly traumatic. “This was my third cesarean surgery,” she disclosed, revealing the pain she endured not only from childbirth but also from being summoned to the police station shortly after delivery to give a statement. Despite her distress, she felt that her complaints went unacknowledged.

She further revealed that the emotional upheaval from the situation had caused her temporary memory loss, adding to her burden. The couple’s quest for answers continues to stretch on, leaving them trapped in uncertainty. With deep sorrow, she lamented, “Where are my biological children? Who is accountable for this?”

As they await resolution, the couple has made heartfelt appeals to the administration for answers regarding their children. With a sense of desperation, the mother beseeched officials, “Please help us put an end to this anguish.” Their situation, which began with hopes of parenthood, has now turned into an emotional nightmare, leaving them grappling with unanswered questions about their family’s future.
