Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has expressed strong discontent regarding the handling of recent protests by students. He labelled the Modi government as “extremely arrogant” for employing police force against demonstrators who were advocating for their rights. This criticism emerged following police actions against peaceful protests held by students demanding reforms in the education system.

Issues with the Examination System Highlighted

Kejriwal articulated that students across the nation are feeling a significant sense of frustration and anger due to ongoing issues within the examination system. He pointed out several critical failures, including paper leaks and a major scandal related to the evaluation process of the UPSC examinations, which led to incorrect scores being awarded. Kejriwal stated that despite repeated attempts by students to raise grievances, their concerns have largely gone unheard.

“In our country, students have been consistently submitting complaints regarding the examination systems,” he stated. “However, where can these students and their families seek justice? The government appears unresponsive to their plight,” he added. This lack of action from the authorities has intensified the despair among students.

The protest was reportedly peaceful for 25 days, yet it culminated in a harsh police response, which Kejriwal described as deeply regrettable. He asserted that students were simply seeking reforms and corrections, not destruction or chaos.

Police Urges Peace Amid Protests

As tensions grew, the Delhi Police urged protesters to maintain tranquillity and avoid spreading unverified information related to the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demonstrations, which are centred around allegations of a NEET examination paper leak. In a statement released on social media, the police called on the public to respect law enforcement directives and to conduct themselves peacefully during the protests.

The police emphasised that it is crucial for all participants to cooperate with security personnel to ensure public order is upheld. They cautioned against circulating rumours or misinformation and advised citizens to depend on verified sources for information.

Cockroach Janata Party Protests Continue with Demands

During the protests, Saurav Das, the chief spokesperson for the CJP, revealed that they had approached Union Health Minister JP Nadda with specific demands, including calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a request for compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of NEET aspirants who have reportedly lost their lives, with claims of over twenty deaths related to frustration with the examination system.

Das also insisted on the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently in hospital. He confirmed that the protest will not cease until their demands, particularly the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, are met. “We have conveyed our expectations clearly to Minister Nadda, and we will continue our efforts until we see real change,” Das stated.

The unfolding situation has drawn considerable attention as the Monsoon Session of Parliament commences, with debates already facing interruptions over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak allegations and accusations regarding financial mismanagement within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya.
