A student delegation consisting of eight members from the ‘JPSC-JSSC Aspirants Justice Forum’ is set to engage in discussions with government representatives at the State Guest House in Ranchi. This meeting is anticipated to take place on Saturday morning, August 12, 2026. The students have been advocating for their demands following the identification of alleged irregularities in the 14th Civil Services Preliminary Examination, which was conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) on July 2, 2026.

Ongoing Protests Amid Hunger Strike

The students from the forum have been on an indefinite Satyagraha for 15 days, demonstrating their commitment to addressing the issues they have raised. To further amplify their cause, student leader Devendra Nath Mahto has been participating in a hunger strike for six days. The protests, which began on July 5, focus on the alleged deficiencies in the examination process, prompting students to demand accountability and transparency.

In light of the upcoming discussions, additional security measures have been implemented at the State Guest House in Ranchi. This decision underscores the government’s recognition of the situation’s sensitivity and the need for a safe environment during the talks. Meanwhile, a medical team assessed the health of the student protesters who are conducting their hunger strike at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Jharkhand.

As part of their strategy, members of the student protest group are travelling to the Circuit House to engage with state government officials. The dialogue aims to address the students’ demands more effectively. Earlier, Devendra Nath Mahto reiterated the persistence of their demands, indicating that the negotiation would not alter their objectives, regardless of the representatives present at the meeting.

Demands for Examination Transparency and Accountability

The protesters at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium have articulated specific requests directed towards the authorities. They are calling for the annulment of all JSSC CGL, JSSC JE, and PGT examinations conducted since 2019, emphasising the need for a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities. Furthermore, the protesters seek stringent actions against those considered responsible, which they refer to as “mafias and agencies.”

In addition to these requests, they are asking for the category-wise cut-off marks to be publicly disclosed, along with the OMR sheets and response sheets to ensure greater transparency concerning the examination process. The protesters also recommended the establishment of a recruitment calendar that aligns with the standards set by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

The events surrounding this protest have highlighted the broader concerns regarding examination fairness and recruitment integrity within the Indian state of Jharkhand. As the situation continues to evolve, the outcome of the upcoming talks could significantly impact the students’ future and the integrity of the examination process in the state.
