The CSR Journal Magazine

The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Kavinder Gupta, has called upon the state’s residents to actively engage in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. His appeal comes as preparations intensify for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. The campaign encourages citizens to display the National Flag at their residences, fostering a spirit of nationalism and unity within the community.

This announcement was made during a meeting on August 9 with Sumit Sharma, Head of Programmes at Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Shimla. The discussion focused on the objectives of the ongoing campaign, which aims to promote patriotism among the public. Governor Gupta underscored the importance of displaying the National Flag during this significant period of national pride.

Significance of the Campaign

Governor Gupta highlighted that this year’s campaign, running from August 9 to 17, holds particular importance as it marks the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram.’ He emphasised that this initiative represents the collective aspiration of the nation towards achieving a developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat.’ The campaign aims to involve individuals at the grassroots level, creating a profound connection with the Tri-colour.

In his remarks, he conveyed the message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encouraging that every household should embrace the spirit of the campaign. Citizens are invited to hoist the flag with pride, thereby reinforcing their commitment to the nation. The campaign also commemorates the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and aims to strengthen the patriotic sentiment across the country.

The campaign was launched in 2022 as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, contributing to the celebration of India’s independence. In its second year, it continues to inspire and motivate citizens to promote nationalism in their own spaces.

Activities Planned During the Campaign

As part of this year’s celebrations, a variety of activities will be organised across different levels, including districts, blocks, and panchayats. These events are designed to enhance community participation and educate the public on the historical significance of the National Flag. The governmental focus is on ensuring widespread involvement and creating a festive environment.

Planned activities will feature Tiranga rallies, exhibitions, and concerts. Community-based initiatives such as bike and cycle rallies are also included to promote the campaign’s message and involve younger generations. Additionally, prominent locations will be illuminated in Tricolour lighting, adding visual appeal to the celebrations.

You can also expect decorations and Rangoli programmes to further engage families and children in the festivities. The theme ‘Tiranga Salute to the Spirit of Vande Mataram’ will guide many of these activities, offering an opportunity for creative expression and community bonding. The popular “Selfie with Tiranga” initiative, encouraging individuals to share their photographs with the National Flag, will also continue to gain traction as part of this year’s campaign.
